Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about Professional Relaxer Retouch.

Most clients return every six to eight weeks depending on growth and texture. Your stylist assesses new growth, hair condition, and desired smoothness to recommend a safe, personalized retouch schedule that preserves overall hair health.

We evaluate porosity, elasticity, and previous chemical history before proceeding. If hair shows significant damage, we may suggest strengthening treatments, extended intervals, or alternative smoothing services to avoid further breakage.

Use sulfate-free shampoos, deep condition weekly, and limit heat styling. Apply recommended leave-in conditioners and balance protein-moisture products. Avoid harsh chemical services for at least a month and consult your stylist if you notice dryness or breakage.

The retouch evens texture rather than altering actual length. Relaxed hair lays straighter and may appear longer after smoothing. Regular trims are still recommended to remove damaged ends and maintain a healthy shape.

Coloring can be done, but timing and sequence matter. We commonly perform color before relaxing or recommend waiting two to four weeks post-retouch. Your stylist will evaluate condition and choose safe products to minimize overlapping chemicals.

Appointments typically last ninety to one hundred fifty minutes depending on hair density, length, and any add-on treatments like deep conditioning. Your stylist will provide a more accurate estimate during consultation and may adjust timing for safety.
